The Hot Beat

The second-day story, with your help. Call Gazette reporter Adam Belz at (319) 398-8273 or e-mail him:

Langston to witness history in D.C.

Supervisor Linda Langston stayed with friends last night and arrived at the U.S. Capitol (with a ticket) by 6 a.m.

She’s standing 60 rows from the podium, on the grass below the capitol steps, the reflecting pool and the mall stretching out behind her.

“If there are not a million people here, I’d be astonished,” she said. “There are bodies from where I am all the way back to the Washington monument.” (That’s about 1.2 miles.)

Langston said it’s been “inspirational,” as the children’s choir from San Fransisco blared in the background.

I’ll try to get more from her later.

Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States of America, will be sworn in at noon, and will give his inaugural address immediately after that.

Hooray!!! She can add this to her bogus list of things that she does that requires her to reverse the pay cut….much like Houser going to his daughters volleyball games to “represent the county” at the event. Give me a break.

This is so GREAT that Linda has come this far from the Highland Park days to be in a position to get to WashDC and visit the historic event attended by thousands of people.

Today was a historic day, and those who participated will remember this event. I did not realize how BIG this event was going to be, and I am not sure how I stumbled onto this site to find this update.

    Great going Linda……
