K.Potts “snubbed” at McCain/Palin rally

We at County Supervision are a little slow on the draw with this one, but Republican Kathy Potts, a candidate for Senate District 33 said she was snubbed at the McCain-Palin rally a little over a week ago.

She wanted to stand on the podium with the Republican presidential ticket, the Iowa Independent reports, but Iowa GOP higher-ups Kraig Paulsen and Chris Rants gave her the thumbs down and the McCain campaign deferred to the Iowa GOP legislative leadership.

Potts has been a sort of local GOP wrecking ball ever since she alleged last November that Cedar Rapids Republican and supervisor candidate Eric Rosenthal received money from the county GOP Central Committee for items he “did not pay for or did not pay for in full.” That investigation is continuing, last I checked, at a fairly slow pace.

Potts succeeded Rosenthal as party chair, and they’re not on the best of terms.

Changing course here a little, Rosenthal met with the Gazette’s editorial board today and said nothing very controversial.

He did mention, though, that he’s interested in putting all local government offices in one building and he thinks the Linn County jail ought to be moved.

NICE SPIN, SNUBBED BY MCCAIN WHEN ACTUALLY TOLD NO BY IOWA GOP AND NOT SURPRISINGLY SO. SHE BLEW THE WHISTLE THEN BLASTED THE WRONG GUY WHEN SHE DIDN’T GET HER WAY, NICE TANTRUM, I WOULDN’T WANT HER NEXT TO ME EITHER. ‘GIVE ME WHAT I WANT OR ILL DIG UP DIRT AND BLAST YOU’. THIS TYPE OF, OR LACK OF CHARACTER, IS WHY REP HAVE A BAD REPUTATION.

Yes – wrecking ball. This being typical lack of character why republicans have a bad name…no. Notice who Kathi Potts hangs with…Lynda Waddington way liberal democrat…Joni Stoddard…let’s see she was tight with Jim Leach…now he isn’t a liberal Republican that’s needs to be a dem now is he?

So saying that Potts has a lack of character is correct…however if someone sounds and acts like .a democrat…they are

  4. For the record, I had never met and/or spoken with Kathy Potts prior to doing the interview about the McCain rally. We had exchanged a few emails back in the spring when I was highlighting women running for office, but an unexpected death in my family (and an out-of-state trip for the funeral) cut that series short.

If one face-to-face meeting and two phone calls are the benchmark, then I guess I “hang with” several Republican office holders and candidates.

The Republican’s proudly call Gov Palin a “maverick” for taking on the Republican establishment. Kathy Potts has also taken on the local Republican establishment. Potts believes that Rosenthal, who was the Linn County Republican chair, personally pocketed money that was due the Party. In November of last year she filed an inquiry with the state finance and ethics commission.
Rosenthal sought delay after delay and finally provided a reply, through an attorney in June 2008. The response was so incomplete, that the commission has to go back for more information.
Before you criticize Potts, ask yourself this, Why didn’t Rosenthal answer the complaint quickly? Why would a candidate prefer to keep an investigation open rather than have the opportunity to clear their name before the election? If you admire “truth to power” you have to admire Potts for standing up for her principles
